Get a better indtroduction to Cambodia's rich culture with a special dinner in a beautiful colonial market.

DAY 2

Optional: (Depart at 5am) See the spectacular dawn breaking at Angkor Wat. Have a chance to see the stunning reflection of the temple and the dramatic fiery background effect.

After breakfast, visit this amazing temple inside and out. The temple was built by a king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharapura, the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaivism tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation – first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture.

Get amazed with the beauty the nature have designed in the ruins of Preah Khan temple. The temple is flat in design, with a basic plan of successive rectangular galleries around a Buddhist sanctuary complicated by Hindu satellite temples and numerous later additions. Like the nearby Ta Prohm, Preah Khan has been left largely unrestored, with numerous trees and other vegetation growing among the ruins.

Also, see an equal beauty in an artificial island Neak Pean. It is an artificial island with a Buddhist temple on a circular island in Preah Khan Baray built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. Some historians believe that Neak Pean represents Anavatapta, a mythical lake in the Himalayas whose waters are thought to cure all illness.

Short drive after lunch to Bayon Temple. See the famous sculpture of giant faces in this richly decorated temple. Built in the late 12th century or early 13th century as the official state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII, the Bayon stands at the centre of Jayavarman's capital, Angkor Thom. Following Jayavarman's death, it was modified and augmented by later Hindu and Theravada Buddhist kings in accordance with their own religious preferences.

Dinner enjoying Khmer cuisine.

DAY 3

After breakfast, we will go to visit and uncover the largest and last city of the Khmer Empire, the Angkor Thom. We will start at South Gate for an great view of the moat and wall with the amazing photo of the giant faces of the gate. Jump in a car or tuk-tuk for a short drive to Baphuon, currently
restored temple, and walk through the Royal Enclosure then to Elephant and Leper King Terrace.

Visit another temple inside the jungle, other small temples and see how enormous the whole complex is. After lunch, we will visit a small temple of Chaosay Tevoda, found by Suryavarman II, the same period as Angkor Wat. Continue to a pyramid Ta Keo and finish at a famous temple of Ta Prohm.

Farewell dinner and a night full of entertainment. Watch the Apsara Dance Show that will certainly give you more insight about Cambodia's culture, tradition and religion. The apsara is played by a woman, sewn into tight-fitting traditional dress, whose graceful, sinuous gestures are codified to narrate classical myths or religious stories. This show is accompanied by enormous choices of traditional Cambodian dishes and cut fruits and salads.
